Whitestone awarded $680 thousand to assist the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) with Executive Order 13327 compliance
SANTA BARBARA, CA - October 11, 2005 - Whitestone Research Corporation has been awarded a Department of Agriculture contract to assist ARS as it complies with Executive Order 13327 facility requirements. The Executive Order requires all major U.S. federal agencies to improve real property inventory data and establish performance metrics and goals for facility maintenance and operations.
Whitestone responsibilities include the validation of the ARS inventory and the parametric modeling of facility condition. Recently used in an extensive study of the condition of Department of Energy National Laboratories, Whitestone's MARS model provided condition estimates within 6 percent of more costly inspections. A suite of Whitestone tools will be used to establish ARS facility sustainment, recapitalization, and operations cost targets.
According to Peter Lufkin, Federal Programs Manager for Whitestone, "The Executive Order substantially raises the bar in terms of facility reporting and planning requirements. ARS is among the agencies on the forefront-such as NASA, DoD, FAA, Department of Energy-in not only complying with the Executive Order, but using it as a catalyst for more sophisticated and cost-conscious management."
