Facility Cost Models: New models streamline DOD planning and improve the funding process for facilities

SANTA BARBARA, CA - September 20, 2005 - Cost models developed by the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Installations & Environment) have streamlined department planning and improved funding for facilities. Addressing facilities sustainment, recapitalization, and operations, these models provide a comprehensive view of life-cycle costs after construction. They should have additional utility in complying with Executive Order 13327, “Federal Real Property Asset Management,“ that requires asset management plans and performance results from all major Federal agencies.
