U.S. Department of Defense Publishes Maintenance and Repair Cost Factors for 385 Facility Types
SANTA BARBARA, CA - June 26, 2001-The
U.S. Defense Department forecasts a large part of its facility maintenance
and repair funding needs using its Facilities Sustainment Model (FSM).
This innovative approach uses detailed inventory statistics and long-term
cost forecasts for individual facility types to estimate the funding
necessary to sustain nearly $600 billion in real property assets.
The FSM is described in the recently published DoD Facilities
Cost Factors Handbook.
Whitestone Research provides the MARS lifecycle cost engine and much
of the data used by the FSM.
Whitestone Research, headquartered

and software development. Whitestone products and services are used
