Whitestone Report: Supermarket Maintenance and Repair Costs Compared for 16 Southwest U.S. Cities
SANTA BARBARA, CA - August 28, 1998 - Supermarket maintenance costs vary by over 50 percent among 16 southwestern cities, according to a recent study by Whitestone Research. Maintenance costs for a supermarket ranged from an estimated $2.73 in San Francisco to $1.77 in Albuquerque. The study was based on a life cycle cost analysis of a model supermarket in each of the study cities.
According to Peter Lufkin, Whitestone Vice President, "This study provides a controlled comparison of costs for siting experts considering new locations in the Southwest. It also provides a good example of a technology - the MARS life cycle cost model - that is a vast improvement over survey data. Using MARS1 we can replicate this study for any building type, in any city in the country."
